From Curiosity to a Life With Bees
Ross and Mary are partners in life and in the field. What started as a weekend workshop became a passion. One hive turned into two, then a few more, and before they knew it, they were spending their weekends in bee suits, learning the quiet rhythm of the hive together.
Now, caring for the bees is part of who they are. They enjoy being present and slowing down to commune with the bees, always working their best to nurture healthy hives. Bees are fascinating creatures to observe, and time spent with them has a way of easing stress and creating space to simply “be.”
Ross and Mary find themselves constantly learning from the hives, after all, bees have remained unchanged for tens of thousands of years, carrying timeless wisdom in their wings.

At Sticky Fingers Farms, each jar of honey carries the flavor of Indiana’s diverse landscapes.
Neighborhood Hives: We collect and harvest honey right in our northside Indianapolis community, where bees gather pollen from a rich mix of local flowers and trees.
Sunflower Apiary: Northeast of Indianapolis, we care for hives surrounded by vibrant sunflower fields, giving the honey a naturally golden sweetness.
Wildflower Preserve: Our third location is nestled in a native wildflower preserve northwest of Indianapolis, where bees thrive among Indiana’s most natural and untamed blooms.
Our honey is raw and unpasteurized, preserving all the natural nutrients, enzymes, and flavors that make it the highest quality. More than a product, it’s the result of raising and nurturing bees out of pure love and respect for nature.

Honey is more than just a natural sweetener
It’s full of goodness that has been valued for centuries. Research shows that it contains antioxidants, which help fight free radicals and reduce inflammation that can damage cells. In every spoonful, you’ll also find small but important nutrients such as iron, zinc, potassium, magnesium, and amino acids.
Honey is known for its antibacterial properties as well, and while a little sticky, it has even been used successfully for wound care. Our honey starts with the sunflowers we grow, bright, wide open, and full of nectar. Our bees forage freely across the farm, gathering from sunflowers and wildflowers that fill the fields all summer long.

CARING FOR THE HIVES
Each hive is checked regularly to make sure the bees are strong, healthy, and supported.
HARVESTING THE FRAMES
When the time is right, they gently collect the honey filled frames from inside the hives.

EXTRACTING AND BOTTLING
The wax caps are removed, and the honey is spun out of the comb. Every jar is filled by hand, right in their workspace.
